GARLAND LiVE AT THE GROVE

DRG Records proudly announces the CD debut of the very first professionally-preserved Judy Garland concert recording -- her first official and legitimate "live" album, GARLAND AT THE GROVE.

Every song Judy sang that night is being presented for the first time ever on one release, as the original LP deleted three songs. Those missing songs and all of the others have now been Digitally Remixed, Remastered and Restored in glorious 24-bit stereo sound here, from the original 3-track tapes made on that historic night.

This CD release marks the 50th Anniversary of the year the album was recorded, 1958. GARLAND AT THE GROVE was recorded on the closing night of Judy's July 23rd-August 5th, 1958, 2-week engagement at the famed Cocoanut Grove, in Los Angeles, CA. Her label, Capitol Records, dispatched its remote recorders to capture Garland's performance using the then-new multitrack stereo sound. Yet it has taken nearly 50 years for the world to finally hear her entire nightclub act -- From the time Judy makes her entrance, to the post-performance announcement that the evening was recorded for an album, every second of tape is included here: All 13 songs are at last on this one CD.

The songs range from the old (Judy's movie masterpieces "The Trolley Song, " "You Made Me Love You, " "After You've Gone, " and "Over The Rainbow") to newer songs she'd just cut for Capitol ("Day In, Day Out, " "I Can't Give You Anything But Love, " and "Do It Again"), to songs that had either recently become concert stables or would be repeated on her later TV series ("Rock-a-bye Your Baby, " and a sizzling "When The Sun Comes Out"). Another highlight is the star's take on the newest song in the lineup, the smash novelty song "The Purple People Eater." Judy is backed on GARLAND AT THE GROVE by the bright, swinging orchestra conducted by the Cocoanut Grove's resident musical director, Freddie Martin.

Using Algorithmix EQ and restoration tools, Alan Silverman of Arf! Digital brought the sound back to life, and restored spectral imbalances in the original recording. The CD's producer Scott Schechter says this digital debut of GARLAND AT THE GROVE thus "presents the extra richness and fullness heard at the Cocoanut Grove that night, but not quite preserved on the original LP. Listening to this CD, you'll feel like you're at a glamorous 1950s nightclub, right in the audience, sitting at the best table at the Grove." Along with the sparkling sound, GARLAND AT THE GROVE features the original album artwork, and new detailed liner notes by Schechter, preeminent Garland-Minnelli historian, and author of "Judy Garland: The Day-by-Day Chronicle of a Legend, " and "The Liza Minnelli Scrapbook."

CARMEN LUNDY, A RARE RENAISSANCE WOMAN AND TRAiLBLAZER
RELEASES NEW CD

February 11, 2008 -- One of music's most distinctive voices returns with a remarkable new CD. Carmen Lundy, renowned for her extraordinary vocal prowess and songwriting skill, is back with her 10th release -- Come Home, from Afrasia Productions.

The culmination of her 30-year career, Come Home is Lundy's emotional tribute to her hometown of Miami, where her large and extended family still resides. All the paintings on the CD are Lundy originals, and "Family Portrait", which graces the cover of the CD, beautifully and eloquently speaks to the honesty, harmony and strength of family. On this album, Lundy paints sonic portraits with the kind of brushstrokes that can only be felt from the inside out.
Recorded by top engineer Joe Ferla (whose work includes John Mayer, David Sanborn, Bill Frissell, Betty Carter and many others), Come Home features the extraordinary talents of pianist Geri Allen, who joined Lundy's stellar band (Anthony Wonsey on piano, brother Curtis Lundy on bass, Jason Evan Brown on drums, Mayra Casales on percussion, Lage Lund on guitar) for the sessions.

Says Lundy, "Making this record was about finding my own voice. Not a jazz voice, but a universal voice. I found my voice and I've accomplished everything I've ever wanted to musically, on Come Home."
Come Home is available now at www.carmenlundy.com , Lundy's MySpace site (www.myspace.com/carmenlundy), Amazon.com and all major digital download sites (including itunes.com, rhapsody.com and barnesandnoble.com) Carmen Lundy's catalog can also be found at top music retailers throughout North America.

About Carmen Lundy
Acclaimed singer, composer, painter and actress, Carmen Lundy continues to amaze. Jazz Times said it best in their 2006 profile:
Carmen Lundy, as beautiful inside as out, has accomplished the near impossible for a jazz singer by maintaining a solid, successful, three-decade career while focusing largely on original, self-penned material.
Her versatility and vocal range has led to comparisons with such diverse and brilliant singers as Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter, and Ella Fitzgerald. Stretching out beyond the studio and concert stage, Lundy has played the lead role in Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Lady stage production, and portrayed Billie Holiday in Lawrence Holder's off-Broadway production They Were All Gardenias.

Top jazz critics around the globe have lauded her work. Here's a small sampling:

"An authentic jazz singer. She's got it all." -- Gary Giddins, The Village Voice

"Catch Carmen. In a world of pretenders, she's a genuine jazz singer." -- Jack Massarik, London Evening Standard

"Lundy's performance was the product of talent that has ripened fully. Her far-ranging, fluidly mobile voice roved through and around the melodies, and her innate sense of theatricality illuminated every layer of drama in her story-driven songs." -- Don Heckman, Los Angeles Times

FRENCH RAVES FOR JARRETT BOX

As previously noted, ECM celebrates the 25th anniversary of the trio of Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette by re-releasing their first three albums as a specially-priced limited edition box set, accompanied by a booklet with rare photos and an insightful essay by Swiss jazz writer Peter Rüedi. “Setting Standards” revisits “Standards Vol. I”, “Standards II” and “Changes”, recordings made in New York’s Power Station in January 1983.

The French press, always keen to analyze Jarrett, is already dedicating large articles to this reisssue and the trio’s jubilee. The weekly “L’express”, exploring the “story of a success”, observes that “these original albums haven’t lost any of their freshness” and concludes: “In questions of balance between the musicians involved and of sheer inventiveness, these three discs have no equal today.” “Il y a 25 ans, Keith Jarrett faisait sa révolution” reads the headline of Bertrand Dicale’s full-page article for the daily “Le Figaro”. The French journalist suggests that these three records may have represented the “last true revolution” in jazz, leaving no doubt that they amount “to one of the most abrupt and decisive changes of perspective in jazz’s history.”

The trio’s 25th anniversary concerts include a number of dates in the US: Newark, New Jersey (February 2), Los Angeles (March 5), San Francisco (March 8), Philadelphia (September19), and New York (October 18). More details on the tour pages.

THE KiNGSTON TRiO’S 1969 'ONCE UPON A TiME' DOUBLE LiVE ALBUM REMASTERED AND REiSSUED BY COLLECTORS’ CHOiCE MUSiC

Companion volume 'Twice Upon a Time' adds 18 additional songs plus a previously unseen video of the ‘Trio’s rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Tomorrow Is a Long Time”

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — In Collectors’ Choice Music’s quest to become the reissue home of folk legends the Kingston Trio, the label is readying two live CDs from the group’s final live tour in 1966. The label will reissue Once Upon a Time, recorded live at the Sahara Tahoe in Lake Tahoe, Nevada in 1966. And as a bonus for Kingston fans, Collectors’ Choice has assembled a previously unreleased sequel to Once Upon a Time called Twice Upon a Time. The two will be released on January 29, 2008.

Once Upon a Time contains all 20 songs from the original double vinyl LP. Twice Upon a Time adds an additional 18 previously unreleased live songs to the mix, plus a never-before-seen video of Bob Dylan’s composition “Tomorrow Is a Long Time.”

Originally intended as the parting vinyl shot from their farewell tour, yet shelved until 1969, Once Upon a Time was issued on the small, now-defunct Tetragrammaton label (also the home of John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s Two Virgins, comedy albums by label co-owner Bill Cosby and the first Deep Purple album). The album was the Kingston Trio’s final charting record, reaching #163. The original gatefold collage, photos and liner notes have been preserved on the reissue.

The trio at that point featured Nick Reynolds, Bob Shane and John Stewart. The trio seized the opportunity to honor Bob Dylan with “One Too Many Mornings” and the Weavers with “Goodnight Irene.” Also included are their classic hits: “Tom Dooley, ” “M.T.A, ” “Scotch & Soda” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” Studio gems such as “Getaway John, ” “The Tijuana Jail” and “I’m Going Home” are included alongside the live work. Finally, the album contains four comedy segments by the Trio’s John Stewart (move over Jon Stewart!) including the infamous “Silicone Bust.”

Grammy® nominated reissue producer Ron Furmanek worked his audio restoration magic for this Collectors’ Choice reissue, which is the album’s first licensed Compact Disc release following a rash of inferior bootlegs.

But the story doesn’t end there. Collectors’ Choice found 18 additional tracks culled from the same 1966 series of live performances that wouldn’t fit onto the Once Upon a Time album and formed the basis of the never-before-released Twice Upon a Time. Included are outstanding renditions of “They Call The Wind Maria, ” “Little Maggie.” “The Merry Minuet, ” “Reuben James” and “Hanna Lee, ” plus Tom Paxton’s “Where I’m Bound” and Stewart’s own “The Spinnin’ On Top of the World” and “Hit and Run.” Following some hilarious false starts (including an exit by Stewart), the Kingstons turn in a fine version of Eric Anderson’s “Thirsty Boots” as well as alternate live takes of “Hard Traveling, ” “Good Night Irene” and “When The Saints Go Marching In.” The album also contains of “Tom Dooley” and “Greenback Dollar, ” which is different from the one on Once Upon a Time. Finally, the album includes a dynamic bonus video of the Trio performing Bob Dylan’s “Tomorrow is a Long Time.” Recaptured in rich stereo by Furmanek, the Kingston Trio’s Twice Upon a Time more than holds its own as a companion disc to Once Upon a Time.

MiGUEL ZENÓN EXPLORES LiFE AND MUSiC
ON THiRD MARSALiS MUSiC RELEASE, AWAKE

Miguel Zenón, one of the most exciting new voices in the jazz world, takes his most personal journey to date on Awake. This is the third Marsalis Music release for the alto saxophonist and composer, who was voted the overall Best New Artist in the 2006 JazzTimes Critics Poll. It follows Zenón's 2004 Marsalis Music debut, Ceremonial, a program of original compositions, and 2005's Jíbaro, a bold reinterpretation of the rural music of Zenón's native Puerto Rico. Now, the alto saxophonist and his talented quartet plus special guests present a program that is sure to bring even greater accolades.

The ten tracks chart what for Zenón has been a critical inner journey. "The focus is more personal and philosophical than Jíbaro, " he explains, "although that album also has a central theme. I wrote all of the music for Awake, and the individual compositions fell into an order around one of the older tunes, 'Awakening, ' which represents a period of personal growth I went through. What resulted was an awareness of my priorities, and how I want to portray myself as an artist."

One goal Zenón realizes on the disc is the incorporation of new colors, from the use of Fender Rhodes on four tracks to the addition of a string quartet and a three-piece horn section." I felt that the Rhodes would create a different sonic flow and push the music in different directions, " he says. "And once I realized that 'Awakening' would serve as a connection between the various elements of the record, I decided to add a string quartet for two tracks." Zenón also presents his "Awakening" theme as an unaccompanied alto saxophone solo at the close, and as a midpoint explosion with three
additional horns. The members of Zenón's working band (Luis Perdomo, piano and Fender Rhodes electric piano, Hans Glawischnig, bass, Henry Cole, drums) are heard throughout and display the empathy that has made them a true ensemble.

These forces have come together to create the strongest statement to date from Zenón, who has also been turning heads of late through his affiliations with the SFJAZZ Collective, Guillermo Klein Y Los Gauchos and Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra. "I feel I'm growing as both a composer and a communicator of ideas, " Zenón notes. Awake captures that growth, as well as the passion, intellect and spirit that has become a Miguel Zenón trademark.

BRUCE HORNSBY CONTiNUES RENAiSSANCEWiTH RELEASE OF
'CAMP MEETiNG'

Grammy-winning  multi platinum selling musician's musician and recording artist Bruce Hornsby has been enjoying a creative renaissance this past year culminating with the recent release of Camp Meeting, the keyboardist/composer's eagerly-awaited album of instrumental jazz music showcasing an all-star trio featuring Hornsby, bassist Christian McBride and drummer Jack DeJohnette. Camp Meeting, Bruce Hornsby's debut jazz recording, is a potent and spirited collection of instrumental performances steeped in improvisation premiering original material composed by Hornsby as well as newly reharmonized versions of tunes by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell. In addition, Hornsby, McBride and DeJohnette debut "Questions and Answers", a previously unrecorded Ornette Coleman work, as well as "Death and the Flower", an early Keith Jarrett composition from the 1970s.

"I've spent my entire life combating closed-mindedness in music as well as the lack of an adventurous spirit", says Hornsby, a musical omnivore who cites a variety of influences from Samuel Barber and Charles Ives to jazz pianists Keith Jarrett and Bud Powell. "Just like all my music, this jazz album is coming from a natural place in
me."

Camp Meeting arrives hot on the heels of Hornsby's last recording, a 2007 collaboration with fellow Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs entitled Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby, which has spent numerous weeks as America's #1 Bluegrass album while achieving Top 40 status (peaking at #37) on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Showcasing
five original Bruce Hornsby compositions, a new Ricky Skaggs song, and traditional country/bluegrass numbers, Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby unveiled a rousing bluegrass rendition of Rick James' "Super Freak."

In July 2006, Legacy Recordings commemorated the 20th anniversary of Bruce Hornsby's Grammy-winning debut album with a mammoth mid-career retrospective, Intersections (1985-2005), a deluxe box set containing four CDs and a bonus DVD. Personally curated by Bruce Hornsby, Intersections (1985-2005) included 26 previously unreleased performances, track-by-track annotations written by Hornsby, plus a booklet filled with rare memorabilia including posters from his personal collection.

Highlighting Hornsby's reputation as a true "musician's musician", Intersections (1985-2005) featured collaborative guest appearances by an extraordinary range of artists including Robbie Robertson, Branford Marsalis, Chaka Khan, Roger Waters, Bonnie Raitt, Gregory Hines, the Grateful Dead, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jerry Garcia, Shawn Colvin, members of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Ricky Skaggs, Ornette Coleman, Bill Evans and many more.

Bruce Hornsby struck RIAA gold--and triple platinum--with his debut album, The Way It Is, recorded with his band, the Range. His debut generated three Top 20 hits, including its #1 title track, and earned Bruce Hornsby & the Range the Best New Artist Grammy for 1986. Hornsby took home his second Grammy in 1989 for Best Bluegrass Recording for "Valley Road" (from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Volume II) and his third Grammy in 1993 for Best Pop Instrumental for "Barcelona Mona" (created with Branford Marsalis for the Barcelona Olympics).

His first eight albums--The Way It Is (1986), Scenes From The Southside (1988), A Night On The Town (1990), Harbor Lights (1993), Hot House (1995), 1998's double CD Spirit Trail, his double live collection Here Come The Noisemakers (2000), and Big Swing Face (2002)--have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

One of pop music's most in-demand "side" men, Bruce Hornsby has played on more than 100 records with artists ranging from Bob Dylan, Don Henley, and the Grateful Dead to Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, Béla Fleck, and Willie Nelson, among many others.

His songs have been performed and/or recorded by a variety of artists including Willie Nelson, Don Henley, Tupac Shakur, Bob Dylan, Chaka Khan, Robbie Robertson, Huey Lewis, Sara Evans, and Leon Russell.

Bruce Hornsby became a part-time member of the Grateful Dead and, from September 1990 to March 1992, performed with the group on more than 100 concerts in America and Europe.

ANDY YOUNG QUARTET SiNGS WiTH HARDRUSH MUSiC

The Andy Young Quartet have signed with ARIA label Hardrush Music. The first CD to be released will be “Downside Up”, a 10 track recording of just over one hour duration of sparkling class jazz. AYQ comprises Andy Young on jazz guitar, Sean Brady on drums and percussion, Hamish Stevenson on upright double bass and Kelly Ottaway on piano and vibes.

With all four having studied at Music schools at conservatories and tertiary institutions the Quartet are more than competently grounded in their instrumentation and skills, but it is that innovative flair that makes great jazz that shines through on this recording. All compositions are from Andy Young with styles across the jazz spectrum ranging from swing to bossa to traditional.

Hardrush are very happy with the recording with CEO Kelvin Fahey stating “This is an inspired work of superb jazz. We are very proud of this recording which is up there with the greats of Australian progressive jazz.” Others have compared the CD as a modern day jazz contemporary of the John Butler trio.

The album was recorded over three sessions at Benjafield Collective Studio, (Hobart, Tasmania) under the engineering genius of Don Bate. The story behind the CD is something in itself.

Andy tells it straight “The four of us had never played together before, but I knew Sean and Kelly from music school and they recommended Hamish for the gig. These sessions were done with a minimum of fuss, maximum enjoyment and no rehearsals. Thus we've been able to capture the freshness and spontaneity of a live performance.”

'Downside Up' will be formally released by Hardrush in November with national and international distribution.

In 2004 Australian jazz guitarist Andy Young made the ultimate “exchange” -from 20 years in Queensland's famous Sunshine Coast resort town of Noosa Heads to the tiny community of Glen Huon in southern Tasmania's Huon Valley.

Opting for a rural lifestyle in much cooler surroundings, Andy found time to add to the rich tapestry of Australian jazz composition with songs spanning the full range of mainstream jazz styles - blues, ballad bossa, bebop and swing. The recording “Downside Up” represents the pick of the tracks from this period.

THE JiMi HENDRiX EXPERiENCE
AT MONTERY DVD/CD AND LP

Forty years ago Jimi Hendrix returned to his native country and, in one fell swoop changed the musical landscape for all time. It was the galvanizing, US debut performance of The Jimi Hendrix Experience at The Monterey International Pop Festival that propelled Hendrix and his band mates, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, to the top ranks of international rock royalty. On October 16, for the first time ever, The Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey will be released by Experience Hendrix/Geffen/UMe on DVD. It’s a remarkable visual and aural document that reconfirms what the Monterey audience bore witness to on June 18, 1967: Hendrix’s unbridled talent and flair for showmanship are unparalleled in the annals of music.

The set of songs that the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed at Monterey was introduced by Brian Jones, the Rolling Stones’ guitarist whose presence at the festival amounted to a kind of benediction by an acknowledged rock god. He knew full well who he was introducing as Hendrix had moved to London fewer than nine months earlier and achieved icon status in the U.K. in very short order. His conquest of his native land, though, would be achieved almost instantaneously at Monterey.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey offers all existing film footage of that epochal performance presented in its original sequence. The original 16mm camera reversal footage shot by D.A. Pennebaker’s Monterey Pop film crew has been transferred to high-definition specs and is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The DVD soundtrack features new 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo mixes by Eddie Kramer, the engineer so closely associated with the Jimi Hendrix and his legacy, from the original eight-track live recordings made at the concert by remote engineer Wally Heider.

Beyond the performance of the band’s set, The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey offers numerous bonus features. A Second Look, a unique interactive feature allows the viewer to switch between multiple, previously unseen camera angles to view several of the performances as never before. In addition, American Landing, a new documentary that includes previously unreleased interviews with Mitchell and Redding – and Jimi Hendrix, himself -- is included. There’s also Music, Love and Flowers, an inside look at the Monterey International Pop Festival with co-founder Lou Adler. Live performances of “Stone Free” and “Like A Rolling Stone, the two earliest known unreleased Jimi Hendrix Experience performances, shot February 25, 1967 at Chelmsford, England are also part of the package.

Voluminous liner notes by Mitch Mitchell and Hendrix scholar and Experience Hendrix’s catalog development director John McDermott, as well as numerous rare and previously unpublished photos of Hendrix, the band and memorabilia of the time are also part of the lavish package that is The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey.

Two companion audio releases, on CD and vinyl, under the same title will also be available on October 16th by Experience Hendrix/Geffen/UMe. All three were produced by Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix and McDermott, the DVD was directed by Bob Smeaton. His directorial credits include Festival Express, Jimi Hendrix: The Dick Cavett Show; Hendrix: Band of Gypsys; The Beatles Anthology and numerous other music titles.

Coincidentally, a five city concert tour celebrating Jimi’s music kicks off on that day at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. Featured artists participating in the Experience Hendrix Tour include Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Randolph, Jonny Lang, Robby Krieger, Mick Taylor, Hubert Sumlin, Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, Eric Gales, Double Trouble, Indigenous and others. Tour stops include New York, Atlantic City, Waterbury, CT and Hampton Beach, NH.

In related Hendrix news, Jimi Hendrix: An Illustrated Experience, from Simon and Schuster’s Atria imprint will be available later this fall. Authored by Janie Hendrix and John McDermott, the oversized book features reproductions of drawings from Jimi's childhood, rare handwritten song lyrics, and never-before-seen archival photographs. In addition to 30 interactive features, the book includes a 70-minute audio CD with interviews and commercially unreleased recordings of live concert music and a Record Plant jam session.

"THE MUSIC OF AFROMANTRA TO HiT THE BIG SCREEN"

Sept 14, 2007.Manhattan, New York City. The music of the New York based Latin Jazz Experimental ensemble, AfroMantra, from its critically acclaimed CD “Uplifting Spirit” is feature in the new large documentary by Frank Rodriguez and Pedro Ruiz, “Animal Tropical à Montréal”, this new documentary is devoted to one of the most controversial Cuban writers living in Cuba, Pedro Juan Gutiérrez.

I am very proud and honored of being part of the soundtrack of Animal Tropical à Montréal says the leader, drummer and composer of AfroMantra, Alex García, from his apartment at Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. I most definitely consider this a real honor! this documentary is very well done! is interesting, fun, controversial and portraits the philosophy and the life of this important and daring Cuban writer, his books have been published in more than twenty countries and translated to eighteen languages! paradoxically, his work in Cuba has not been published and is virtually unknown for most of the people in the island.  Another reason that makes me feel honored is to share the soundtrack of the film with worldwide known composers and musicians like Paquito D’Rivera.

Without any doubt this is a great opportunity for my band AfroMantra to be more exposed in the world of films, even though the concept of my band is still intended for Jazz festivals and concerts, as a matter of fact, it is what we have been doing for the last six years, the music that I write is very visual and a movie seems to serve also, as a perfect vehicle to express myself.  To know more about AfroMantra you can visit www.myspace.com/afromantra

SHAWN MULLiNS SET TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM
'HONETDEW'ON VANGUARD RECORDS MARCH 11

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Shawn Mullins will serve up a new set of vibrant, character-driven songs with his new Vanguard Records CD honeydew on March 11, 2008. honeydew teems with humanity: railroad workers, traveling salesman , homeless troubadours, and several generations of family members, living and dead. It is a richly interwoven work, the most panoramic album of Mullins’ career as well as the most intensely personal. “These songs are character sketches of people I've come across and places I've traveled through, ” he says.

Produced by the artist, the recording took place at Creekside Station, the rural Georgia studio of Gerry Hansen, Mullins’ longtime drummer, who engineered and mixed. Along with other regulars, including bassist Patrick Blanchard, multi-instrumentalist Clay Cook, B-3/Wurlitzer specialist Marty Kearns and mandolin player Kip Conner, Mullins managed to snag guitarist Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow) during a break in his touring schedule. Also making appearances are Atlanta blues and soul legend Francine Reed (Lyle Lovett) on “Homeless Joe” and the extremely catchy first single, “All in My Head, ” and Australian alt-country artist Kasey Chambers on “Cabbagetown.”

Mullins is best known for his Top 10 hit “Lullaby, ” for which he received a Grammy nomination that propelled the album Soul’s Core to platinum-plus status. Exposed to music at an early age by his grandfather, who was a big band player, Mullins began writing songs and producing cassettes in grammar school. After attending North Georgia College and a stint in the military he launched his own label in 1991 and hit the singer-songwriter circuit, building a strong following in the Southeast. Seven independent albums later, he released Soul's Core on Sony Music in 1998. He signed with Vanguard Records in 2004 and shortly thereafter released 9th Ward Pickin' Parlour. honeydew is his sophomore release for the label.

PRiDE AND JOY THE ULTiMATE ViSUAL HiSTORY OF
STEViE RAY VAUGHAN AND DOUBLE TROUBLE

In 2007, on the 25th anniversary of the debut of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble at the Montreux Jazz Festival in July 1982 – four short months before they began recording their first album for Epic Records – the sky is still crying over the loss of one of the world’s most renowned young guitarists, just eight summers later, in August 1990.  Seeing was believing – and this was one band who was fortunate to come of age at the dawn of the MTV era, when film and video production became almost as important as studio recording. During the course of the ’80s, promotional video clips, live performance films, and so-called EPKs (electronic press kits) became a cornerstone of every artist’s discography. In 1990, after five RIAA platinum and multi-platinum albums, SRV&DT’s whirlwind success was celebrated with Pride And
Joy, a VHS collection that gathered six promo video clips and two live numbers, spanning 1983 to 1989.

Nearly two decades later, that
collection has been updated, upgraded (to new Stereo and 5.1 surround-sound mixes), and expanded to more than twice its original length. The new DVD edition of PRIDE AND JOY reprises the original eight segments, and now adds a bonus promo video clip, three acoustic numbers from the original MTV “Unplugged” series, two television commercials, and performances with Stevie Ray’s older brother Jimmie in the Vaughan Brothers (along with the EPK created for that band). The new 17-track DVD will arrive in stores November 6th on Epic/Legacy, a division of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT. In its original form, PRIDE AND JOY served as a well-sequenced chronology of SRV&DT’s Epic years. Included (in order) were all the promo video clips shot for each of their studio albums: Texas Flood (“Love Struck Baby, ” 1983); Couldn’t Stand The Weather (the title tune and “Cold Shot, ” both 1984); Soul To Soul (“Change It, ” 1985); and In Step (“The House Is Rockin’” and “Crossfire, ” both 1989).
